Samsung is bringing the phone with satellite connectivity option. The American technology company Apple (Apple) launched its latest iPhone 14 series in the global market earlier this month. While the flagship handsets in this series offer some upgrades in terms of specifications, they also have various cutting-edge features. One of these high-end features of the Apple iPhone 14 lineup is the satellite connectivity option. This feature can be used by iPhone users in emergency situations. But now a Twitter user has claimed that one of Apple’s main rivals, Samsung, is also planning to include this feature in their upcoming Galaxy devices.
Samsung’s smartphones now have satellite connectivity options
Twitter-based tech insider, Ricciolo, in his recent tweet has revealed that Samsung plans to introduce satellite connectivity options in its upcoming smartphones. However, it is not yet clear whether this feature will be available on Samsung Galaxy S23 series devices. Incidentally, Apple removed the screen from the iPhone 14 series devices at the ‘Far Out’ event held on September 7. The high-end features of this brand-new iPhone lineup also include the satellite connectivity feature. This feature can be used by iPhone 14 users in emergency situations. However, it is currently only available to customers in the US and Canada.

How to use iPhone 14’s satellite connectivity feature
New iPhone users can tap on the “Emergency Text Via Satellite” option if they cannot make an emergency call using the cellular carrier network.
Also, he/she can go to “Messages to Text 911 (Emergency telephone number for USA and Canada) or SOS” option, then the user has to tap on Emergency Services.
Then tap on “Report Emergency”.
The user is then asked to answer urgent questions to better describe the emergency.

The iPhone user can choose the “Notify Your Emergency Contact” option to inform about his location and the nature of his emergency.
To connect the iPhone to a satellite, the user needs to hold the phone and follow the on-screen instructions.
After it is connected, continue to follow the displayed instructions to stay connected while sending your message to the emergency services.
In this way, the device can be connected to the satellite, and the iPhone will then start sending important information to emergency responders.
Rules for satellite communication in India
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has laid down certain rules for getting satellite communication enabled phone services. These are-
- Certain permission or no-objection certificate is required to be obtained from the Department of Telecom.
- A satellite handset and SIM should be taken from BSNL only, as only this state-run telecom enterprise is authorized to use its gateways installed in India for the operation and management of satellite-based services.
